This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.
Foundation Skills - language, literacy, numeracy and employment skills are essential to performance.
Course duration/ delivery mode
This unit of competency is delivered over 4 hours and consists of theory and practical assessment. Course outcome On successful completion learners will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.
Training is conducted at ECB Training Services, or if required training can also be conducted on your site providing the following requirements are met: • Training room with tables, chairs & screen • Suitable clear operating area
Fees and Charges
The course fee is $220pp. Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a 20% cancellation fee, no refund is given for nonattendance or cancellation on the day of the training. Where ECB Training Services receives sufficient notice of cancellation (at least 48 hours), a refund is available.
Enclosed footwear, long sleeve shirt & long pants.
Identify, assess and manage immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others
Assess the casualty and recognise the need for advanced resuscitation response
Assess the situation and seek assistance from emergency
response services where required
Perform advanced resuscitation
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with ARC guidelines
Provide supplemental oxygen
Use available resources and equipment to make the casualty as comfortable as possible
Monitor casualty condition and rectify issues preventing adequate treatment
Communicate details of the incident
Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services
Report details of incident in line with organisational policies
Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
Evaluate the incident and own performance
Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers involved in critical incidents
Participate in debriefing to address individual needs
Check, maintain and clean equipment ready for future use
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
