This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate, load, haul and dump materials using a rigid haul truck.
This unit applies to those who work in operational roles.

Reading and Numeracy are essential to performance. Reading - Must be able to identify and interpret information from workplace procedures, documentation, legislation and regulations. Numeracy - Uses equipment operating capacity schedule to confirm safe weight load limits.
On completion of the course, participants will have gained the following skills and knowledge to:
Plan and prepare for rigid haul truck operations
Access, interpret and apply rigid haul truck operations documentation
Hazard identification and environmental issues, risk assessment and implementation of control measures
Select and wear PPE (personal protection equipment) for work activities
Access, interpret and apply required geographical and survey data
Coordinate and communicate with others at work site • Operate rigid haul truck in line with established requirements
Carry out prestart and start-up checks
Identify faults/defects, rectify or report according to workplace procedures
Drive and operate rigid haul truck using techniques suited to equipment capabilities, site and work conditions
Monitor and manage equipment using alarms and indicators in line with manufacturers’ specifications
Monitor hazards and risks during operations. Ensure safety of self and others.
Load, haul and dump materials • Position rigid haul truck under loading equipment and load vehicle
Carry out haulage operations in line with workplace procedures
Carry out dumping operations
Park up, shutdown, secure and carry out post operational inspection of equipment
Clear work area and dispose of or recycle materials according to workplace procedures
Completion and filing of documentation in accordance with workplace procedures
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a 20% cancellation fee, no refund is given for non-attendance or cancellation on the day of the training. Where ECB Training Services receives sufficient notice of cancellation (at least 48 hours), a refund is available.
